Service projects offer Girl Scouts a unique opportunity to help people in their communities. Some service projects include decorating a nursing home for the holidays, collecting clothing for local charities, cleaning up local parks and, for older girls, donating time to feed the homeless.

Cair Flight, a humanitarian flight organization headquartered in Tampa at the Vandenberg Airport, is looking for Senior Girl Scouts who need volunteer hours to help in their office posting mission logs and other data entry information.

Cair Flight is a group of pilots who work to move patients to essential medical treatment, cancer trials, etc.

Gift of Caring

This service project is conducted during the annual Cookie Sale Program. Before the Cookie Sale Program, each troop decides which charitable organization(s) in their community they would like to visit to deliver packages of Girl Scout Cookies donated by their customers. Participation patches are available for purchase in the Girl Scout Store.

Florida Girl Scouts Helping Children

Conducted in March, this service project involves girls in collecting items for infants in crisis, which are then distributed through local agencies. Participation patches are available for purchase in the Girl Scout Store.

Lend a Hand … Exotic Plant Removal Project

Girl Scouts of West Central Florida’s camps are under attack by alien species! There are non-native, exotic species of green plants invading and taking over areas of our Girl Scout camps. You can help stop the attack by alien plant species when you visit camp. Using the information sheets available on the website and in the Resource Center, you can “lend a hand” and participate in the exotic plant removal project. Participation patches are available for purchase in the Girl Scout Store.

Special Olympics

At different times during the year, Special Olympic events take place. Girls ages 14 and older are needed to help the athletes at various events. Special Olympics of Florida is looking for groups to organize and implement committee projects for the various aspects of their organization. If your troop/group has a good idea on how to help the organization or wants to help at one of the various events, contact one of the county volunteer coordinators listed below for a calendar of events and volunteer opportunities.

Linking Girls to the Land

Since the beginning of our movement in 1912, Girl Scouts have enjoyed the outdoors. Now they can take the next step by being active stewards of the environment and having fun at the same time! Girl Scout troops and groups already are participating on National Public Lands Day, one of many Linking Girls to the Lands activities.
