Girl Opportunity Fund

Email this page / Print this page / Text size adjust: A A A

The Girl Opportunity Fund is a part of the annual operating budget approved by Girl Scouts of West Central Florida’s Board of Directors. This fund is supported by several sources, including United Way operating funds, revenue from product sales, contributions, bequests, fundraising events, grants and other program service fees. These funds are limited in nature, and requests for assistance grow each year with membership. Future requests may or may not be approved due to limited resources.

An integral part of the Girl Scout program is to help girls learn to make realistic, achievable plans and to be self-sufficient. Girls identify the cost of their plans and earn the money to carry them out. At each step, adult advisors guide girls to help them learn to manage their troop funds. Let us not forget that the last line of the Girl Scout law is “and be a sister to every Girl Scout” – troops and Service Units should budget funds annually to assist girls who are unable to afford the Girl Scout program.

The Girl Opportunity Fund is available on a limited basis when troops and/or Service Units are unable to provide this assistance. To receive the financial assistance form, please contact your Community Development Manager.
