Adults – Do You Have What It Takes to Work At Resident Camp?

Girl Scouts of West Central Florida offers a variety of opportunities for volunteers and parents to engage girls in life long learning. At Camp Wildwood, adult counselors help with activities, live in the unit with girls, make sure they dress appropriately, and see that campers move from place to place, arriving at activities on time. At camps Dorothy Thomas and Scoutcrest, adults serve as assistants with camp programs and also may facilitate some of the evening program under the guidance of senior camp staff. (Adult counselors must be women.)

If you volunteer for any session, you will receive one free camp session equivalent to $250 which may be utilized by either donating the money back to Council to support the campership program or may be used for a specific girl that you already know. Any session fees over the amount of $250 will need to be paid. Session fees under the $250 amount will not be refunded.

  • We can only accept a limited number of adults; no “tag-alongs” (children or siblings)
  • A limited number of volunteer spots are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis
  • All volunteers are screened through the same process as paid staff and will be required to pass background and drug testing requirements
  • All adults/volunteers must complete a mandatory on-site, overnight training May 10 & 11

Girl Scout volunteers or parents who are connected with Girl Scouts may apply for a volunteer position by contacting Maurna Williams: (813) 281-4475, ext. 221 or mwilliams@gswcf.org to receive an application packet.
